Mould and Moisture Assessments

What does it involve?

This involves visually assessing and if necessary testing the built environment, both indoors and outdoors for mould and moisture as well as condensation and ventilation issues that can create the ideal breeding ground for mould.

Removing mould or cleaning with bleach, clove oil or other suggestions often found on the internet does not solve the problem as it will continue to return unless the actual source of moisture is identified and removed.

Specialised equipment is required for these assessments, such as thermal imaging cameras, moisture meters and boroscopes to measure the amount of water in the building material and thereby tracing the moisture back to it’s source to be able to identify the root cause of the problem.

This cause or issue could range from a leaking water pipe, poor drainage on the land, lack of ventilation to poor building design or material choice.

You will receive a questionnaire prior to the visual inspection, to be completed by you, that will help us to identify potential issues and what your requirements are.

You will also receive a detailed report with photos following the inspection with clear and easy to follow advice, solutions and professional referrals if required.

If requested mould sampling can also be conducted for an additional cost but this is not always necessary.

This involves air and surface samples being taken and sent to a certified laboratory for analysis.  The types of moulds present and their concentration can then be reported and a remediation plan developed.

What will you get?

  • An initial interview over the phone and an online questionnaire to be completed before the site visit to determine the goals of the assessment.
  • A comprehensive visual investigation of the site and building including moisture mapping and sampling (if determined necessary by the scope and purpose of assessment).
  • A written report based on the findings of the assessment outlining observations, moisture mapping, interpretation of testing/ sampling results as well as conclusions on the state of the property and recommendations on how to remediate and address water-damaged building materials as well as prevent future issues associated with water-damaged building.
  • A follow up call.

What is the cost?

This is a 4-6 hour assessment including the written report.
